Somatosensory Evoked Potentials |
The somatosensory system conveys sensory information to the brain regarding pain, temperature, and touch from the skin, muscles, and organs. If the nerve pathway is pinched or damaged, the signals take longer to reach the brain. SSEP measures how long it takes the nerves to transmit sensory information back to the brain and indicates the extent of nerve fiber damage. |
